With the Turkana when drought kills

March 2023. After suffering from an endless drought for five years, the Turkana people are seeing their land crack and their livestock decimated. Roaming the arid lands of northwest Kenya, these nomadic shepherds live in harmony with nature, alternating between dry and rainy seasons. However, to face this disruption, the Turkana are forced to change their habits and turn to fishing in the vast salt lake that borders their lands.

With the Inuit when the ice melts

May 2023. In the most isolated village in Greenland, Ittoqqortoormiit, the ice is slowly melting. 25 km of ice floe has gone missing. A significant change for seal and polar bear hunters, who are replacing their sled dogs with motorboats. But the Inuit people also see in the melting of glaciers new possibilities for hunting and tourism.

With the Aboriginal Australians when the bush burns

June 2023. In Australia's Northern Territories, the bushfire season has just started. The Aboriginal people of Arnhem Land are using their ancestral practice of controlled burning to prevent mega-fires. This millennia-old tradition is passed on through families and is now of great interest to authorities, following the trauma of the devastating Black Summer bushfires in 2019-2020.


Episode 4
With the Guna when the oceans rise

September 2023. In the San Blas archipelago off the coast of Panama, the island of Carti Sugdub is suffering from rising waters. Scientists have warned that, by the year 2100, it may progressively drown in the Atlantic Ocean. The Guna people, a community of 1,200 residents, find themselves in a poignant predicament as their ancestral lands stand are inundated. With water already lapping at their feet, they embark on a journey to relocate to a new village on the mainland.
